Pan African Climate Change Hearings

EMG and Oxfam jointly hosted the Pan African Climate Change Hearings in Cape Town in October 2009.

The object was not to verify climate change or to make direct links, but rather to illustrate the lives of those directly dependent on a stable and predictable climate... and show how we are all ultimately dependent on each other  –  even if we feel relatively insulated because of our wealth or house in the city.

Amongst the testimonies:

Sarah Niemand  –  artisanal fisher, Buffeljagsbaai, Cape south coast

Ernest Titus  –  artisanal fisher, Lamberts bay , Cape west coast

Sidney le Fleur  –  small-scale organic honeybush farmer, Kranskop, Southern Cape

Ragel Hesselman  –  small-scale organic rooibos tea farmer, Nieuwoudtville, Northern Cape

Beatrice –  Food gardener, Carolusberg, Northern Cape

Bulelani Kave –  community activist, Atlantis, Western Cape
